Under the revised organizational structure of the Laredo Police Department, there are five active divisions within the Department lead by 5 Command Captains. The five recognized divisions are as follows:

• Patrol Division
• Administrative Division
• Directed Patrol Division
• Criminal Intelligence Division
• Support Division

Each command captain exercises line command over the employees assigned to them and assume staff responsibility over matters relating to the operations within their assigned command. Captains are responsible for ensuring service delivery, compliance with policy , make recommendations to their Deputy Chief of Police for improvements in operations, and to guide, train, direct, and motivate those they supervise.
