City Attorney's Office
The City Attorney's Office provides assistance and advice to the Laredo City Council, the City Manager and city departments in all legal matters.
The office represents or supervises the representation of the City of Laredo in legal proceedings, and is responsible for the review and/or drafting of resolutions, ordinances, contracts, agreements, deeds and other legal documents in which the City has an interest.
The office also prosecutes violations of City of Laredo ordinances and Class C misdemeanors in the Laredo Municipal Court.
Ethics Guidelines
On September 4, 2012, the Laredo City Council passed Ordinance 2012-O-126 which adopted a new Code of Ethics establishing standards of conduct for all officials, employees, board members and persons doing business with the City of Laredo.
Open Records Request
Any person wishing to inspect or copy public records kept by the City of Laredo must make the request in writing and may do so online by visiting the Laredo Open Records Center. No verbal requests shall be accepted. A written Open Records Request may also be forwarded to the City of Laredo’s Open Records Attorney for handling.
Notice of Claims

Written notice must be received by the City Secretary within sixty (60) days from the date of the injury or property damage.
