Admissions:
Individuals must be 18 years and older. They may be admitted upon request or as part of a jail and/or hospital diversion program. All services provided at the detoxification facility are voluntary and individuals receiving care may self-discharge from the program upon request. Individuals shall not be denied admission or discharged from treatment because they are taking prescribed medication.
If in the admission evaluation, the physician determines that the patient did not meet admission criteria, the patient will be referred to an appropriate service provider to meet their current level of care needs.
Our team of professionals will conduct an intake screening prior to admission to ensure the services provided at the facility meet the needs of the individual. Admission process includes both a history and physical examination of each patient.
Admission Requirements:
All patients are required to have a proof of a negative Tb test within the last 30 days of admission. Our Intake Specialist will assist in coordinating services for Tb testing during the prescreening process.
Admission Protocol:
The center will provide a safe medically supervised withdrawal and/or stabilization services to patients with a diagnosis of substance use disorder (SUD) and physiological dependence on substances with the goal of minimizing discomfort and to improve patient treatment outcomes. When appropriate and induction and dose stabilization will be offered utilizing prescribed medications. This is the safest and most evidence-based standard of care.
Exclusion Criteria for detoxification:
• Diagnosis of substance use disorder.
• Physiological dependence with withdrawal symptoms.
Exclusion Criteria:
• Recent history of withdrawal seizures (past 6 months).
• Unstable acute medical or psychiatric comorbidity.
• Current suicidal ideation or suicide risk based on history.
• Severe unstable liver disease with ascites and/or encephalopathy.
• Uncontrolled epilepsy not on medication.
• Recent hospitalizations with an acute unstable illness.
• Anyone with a communicable illness (Varicella, Measles, COVID, Influenza, TB, etc.)
• COWS above 25; CIWA above above 19; CIWA-B above 18 on admission
• Pregnant women requesting detoxification from opioids will be transferred to an appropriate level of care.
• Allergy to detoxification medications
• Methadone in the last week (when not taken as part of a MAT program)
Patients not eligible for admission or developing complications during their admission will be transferred to an appropriate/higher level of care or to the nearest hospital. Staff will be directed to call 911 and notify the physician/NP or on call medical provider. Referral and reasons for referral will be documented in the case record.
Payments:
ROOTS Recovery Center accepts Self-Pay and most Health Insurances. For Self-Pay patients, the center will utilize a sliding scale to determine fee for service. No patient will be turned away due to inability to pay.
