VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMITTEE NOTICE OF MEETING

WRITTEN NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN OF A MEETING OF THE CITY OF LAREDO VETERANS AFFAIR COMMITTEE TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY JANUARY 9, 2024 AT CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 1110 HOUSTON STREET, LAREDO, TEXAS AT 11:30 A.M. FOR THE FOLLOWING ITEMS OF BUSINESS FOR DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION:

1. CALL MEETING TO ORDER

    

2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

    

3. ROLL CALL

    

4. APPROVE MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 21, 2023

    

5. CITIZENS COMMENTS

   Citizens are required to fill out a witness card and submit it to the Chairperson prior to the start of the meeting. Comments are limited to three (3) minutes per speaker. No more than three (3) persons will be allowed to speak on any side of an issue. Should there be more than three (3) people who wish to speak on a particular issue, they need to select not more than three (3) representatives to speak for them and the presiding officer may limit the public comments further in the interest of an orderly meeting. Speakers may not pass their minutes to any other speaker. Comments should be relevant to Committee business and delivered in a professional manner. No derogatory remarks will be permitted

    

6. COMMUNICATIONS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
   1. By a VA Outpatient Clinic representative to announce updates on physical therapy, WIFI, urgent care and a food drive at the VA Clinic.
   2. By a Catholic War Veterans representative about the Vietnam Veterans Plaza.
   3. By a South Texas Afghanistan and Iraqi Veterans representative to announce the Laredo Air Force Base project.
   4. By an American Legion Post 59 representative announcing the dedication at Independence Hills Park.

       

       

7. ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION
   1. Discussion with possible action by Guadalupe Alvarez regarding the WBCA parades by asking for the veterans organization entries to be placed towards the front of the parade and to waive the entry fee and any matters incident thereto.

       

         

8. ADJOURNMENT

THIS NOTICE WAS POSTED AT THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT OFFICES, 1110 HOUSTON STREET IN LAREDO, TEXAS, AND AT A PLACE CONVENIENT AND READILY ACCESSIBLE TO THE PUBLIC AT ALL TIMES. THIS NOTICE WAS POSTED ON JANUARY 5, 2024 BY 5:00 P.M.
